West Barnes Lib Dems fight for LESSA sports ground to be retained for sporting and community use.

West Barnes Lib Dem Councillors Hina Bokhari and Eloise Bailey are grateful for the many residents who contacted us about the latest planning application for the LESSA Sports Ground. It’s clear that people are very concerned by this development.

We wholly support this site being retained for sporting and community use and have been encouraging the Council to be proactive in seeking partners to ensure it is retained, as such and in holding the owners of the site to their original commitments on this.

We have been notified (as of 9th March 2022) that the Planning Committee voting on the development will be delayed due to an objection from Sport England. 

As your local councillors we also object to the application and will speak on behalf of residents. We will continue to voice many of the concerns that were raised with us including flooding risks, lack of local infrastructure and the need for green space.
