Your Hornsey 2026 Lib Dem Candidates

Our Priorities for Hornsey

1) Safer and Cleaner Streets

We understand all too well how crime and anti-social behaviour impacts our community: from dog-fouling and fly-tipping to serious violent crime and theft.

Hornsey deserves proper resources for enforcement and prevention. We will fight to ensure everyone feels safe and supported in our community.

2) Protecting Residents

Too often, Haringey Council has let our community down: SEND support is stretched to breaking, safe-guarding has failed dramatically, and council housing is often poorly maintained and unsafe.

We need councillors who will really bring the change we need at the Council and put residents first.

3) Championing our Environment

Hornsey is home to substantial Conservation Areas, green spaces, and in St Mary’s Tower, one of the oldest standing buildings in Haringey.

We want to ensure new planning and development respects and enhances the natural and historic character of our ward, while providing the affordable, high-quality homes our community urgently needs.

We will fight to protect and enhance and green spaces and natural environment.

About Us

Lib Dem Gillian Kilby-Gjini

Gillian Kilby-Gjini

I've lived in Hornsey Ward for over 30 years and brought my family up here. It's a such a wonderful area to live, spend time, raise a family and work.

During my time here, I've campaigned to make Hornsey an even better place for my neighbours and the local community; consistently pushing over many years for greater community safety, including fighting Haringey Council to take residents' concerns seriously.

I'm passionate about protecting green spaces as I feel they are very important for people, and feel strongly that communities should have effective support and advocacy. That is why I want to represent you as your councillor.

Lib Dem Julia Ogiehor

Julia Ogiehor

I am a former Haringey Councillor, previously representing much of what is now Hornsey Ward when it was formally part of the old Muswell Hill ward on previous boundaries.

I am passionate about helping residents access vital local services, particularly those who have too often been overlooked by this Council. I will work to tackle challenges such as the increase in crime that is blighting our community, and the lack of access to services and activities for our young people.

Following a break from being a councillor to start a family, I am back looking to represent Haringey residents once again. With my experience as a councillor, I not only understand how the council works, but I have the real-world experience in providing the help and support many people in Haringey need, and in getting things done for our community.

Lib Dem, Tom Williams

Tom Williams

I am a historian, a former British Museum curator, and a trustee of a royally chartered learned society. I have lived in Haringey for 22 years and in Hornsey for 18, now raising my family here.

Over that time I have too often seen complacency, poor decision-making, and a lack of transparency from this Labour-run council. Hornsey deserves better. I want local people listened to, our community’s needs prioritised, and the area’s unique character protected. Since we last had Lib Dem councillors representing the ward, Hornsey has simply been one of a number of areas in Haringey taken for granted by Labour. It's time for change.

Let's have a fresh start for Haringey with the Lib Dems. Open, honest, and accountable; with our communities at the heart of the decisions we make. That's our commitment to you.

Help turn Haringey orange this May

One of the most important things you can do – apart from voting of course – is allow us to put up one of our orange signs at the front of your property.

You will be familiar with them - the orange diamond boards, similar to an estate agent’s sign, which say ‘Liberal Democrats’ on them. They are by far the best way to show how much support there is locally and remind people to vote.

Fill out your details below to request a board today. We have window posters too!

Putting a poster in your garden or window is a great way to support the Lib Dems at election time. Sign up here to get your poster from the local Lib Dems at the next election.
