“What a coincidence” says Luke Taylor MP in response to Khan’s EU calls just weeks before local elections

Responding to the news that Sadiq Khan has urged Labour to campaign to rejoin the EU at the next General Election, Liberal Democrat MP and Spokesperson for London Luke Taylor said:

“Sadiq Khan promised Londoners that he would get a good deal from a Labour Government, and we know how that has turned out. Now he has stumbled upon the realisation that Brexit is hurting London just weeks before polling day in the local elections. What a coincidence”

“Londoners have heard his empty promises before, and are now suffering the consequences. Rebuilding trust with the EU will take time, and the Liberal Democrats have a plan to start talks on building a bespoke Customs Union with the EU, not just more empty Labour promises.

“The Mayor and this government should get on with fixing the economic damage done by the Conservatives' disastrous Brexit deal, starting by joining a customs union with the EU to tackle the cost of living crisis and cut red tape for businesses."
