Sutton Allotments Reap the Rewards of £12,000 in Grants

Green-fingered residents in Carshalton and Wallington are set to benefit from much-needed water system upgrades, thanks to £12,600 of funding secured from the Neighbourhood Fund.

The investment will help local growers flourish by improving sustainability and irrigation at key allotment sites.

The funding will support the following projects:

  • Upgrading the water supply at Beddington Park Allotments
  • Installing water buts and reconnecting the dip tank at Green Wrythe Lane Allotments
  • Upgrading the water system at Demesne Road Allotments to accommodate an increasing number of active plots, ensuring all growers have the resources they need.

Liberal Democrat Councillor Isabel Araujo, Vice-Chair of the Environment Committee, said:

“This is a much needed investment. The improvement of the water systems is something that the allotment users have been asking for.

It will not only enhance the produce but will help to minimize the impact of climate change on our allotments.”
