St Helier A&E department at breaking point

15 Jul 2022

St Helier Hospital has warned locals not to use its A&E Department unless it “really is an emergency” as the unit becomes overwhelmingly busy.

In a report in MyLondon, patients have been warned away from the facility with health bosses citing the pressures on critical systems and ambulance wait times.

Responding to the statement, Bobby Dean, campaigning to be Carshalton and Wallington’s next MP, said:

“More and more people are telling me that ambulance waiting times are getting worse here. Local paramedics and NHS staff are at breaking point, with a plan that will only make things worse.

“We are gripped by a local health emergency, yet the Government has offered no help whatsoever.”
