Resident visits to Household Reuse and Recycling Centre doubled by Lib Dem-run Sutton Council

6 Jun 2022

After listening to residents, Lib Dem-run Sutton Council has proposed doubling the number of visits to the HRRC afforded to Sutton residents from 12 to 24 trips a year.

Residents needing more than this can apply for an exemption.

The booking system has been updated and, subject to space, residents can now book on the same day. The booking system stops long queues of cars spilling out on to the busy A217

Overall, the consultation found that residents satisfaction with the service were extremeley high, with around 7,500 visits a month being made.

Barry Lewis the new Lib Dem Chair of The Environment and Sustainable Transport Committee said:

“We’ve listened carefully to feedback from residents to make the changes they wanted to see.

“By doubling the number of trips and improving the booking system, residents will be able to access the facilities they need to dispose of household waste.

“The limit will also stop commercial traders taking advantage of the public service and will protect the value of residents council tax".
