New council homes coming to Carshalton
Sutton Council has stepped in to develop the former Chelsea Timber Yard on Westmead Road after private developers struggled to build homes there.
The Council will build 34 new homes with an improved design and a revised mix of properties, including more three-bedroom maisonettes to help some of the 1,100 local families in temporary accommodation.
Sutton leads the way on sustainability, with all homes built to the highest standards – ensuring the highest energy efficiency, lower bills and a reduced carbon footprint.
Local Lib Dem Councillor and the Council’s Housing Lead Jake Short said: “I am delighted the council has stepped in to deliver much-needed, sustainable homes for families in Carshalton.”
