Council rejects plans for more mopeds in Wallington

Lib Dem-led Sutton Council has rejected proposals to convert loading bays on Wallington High Street into additional moped parking spaces.

The decision follows a public consultation, where a majority of residents strongly opposed the changes.

Cllr Sam Martin, said:
“There was no surprise at the outcome of the consultation. The changes were being proposed to bays not currently used by motorcycle delivery drivers, and we were concerned it would make it harder for vans and lorries to access the bays.”
