All-Inclusive: New Play Equipment Installed at Wrythe Rec
New inclusive play equipment has been installed at Wrythe Recreation Ground, thanks to a joint project between the council and the Friends of Wrythe Rec.
With an investment of £50,000, the initiative has introduced disability-friendly play equipment, including a new swing, climbing frame, and roundabout.
The completion of this project means that all parks in Carshalton Central now feature accessible play equipment, ensuring more children can enjoy playing outdoors.
Local Councillor Andrew Jenner was at the opening of the park, and said:
“Two years ago, I was told that Wrythe Rec was the ‘poor relation’ among Carshalton parks. Looking into it, I realised that while other parks had ‘Friends’ groups, Wrythe Rec didn’t—so we set out to change that.
“Since then, the Friends of Wrythe Rec have been making a real difference and I am thrilled to see this project come to life. All children deserve the opportunity to play, explore, and have fun, and this investment ensures that no one is left out”
