Axe the Hike
Labour-run Hammersmith & Fulham Council has written to every household with plans to at least double your council tax. Its own figures show a rise of up to 150% in the council’s share, costing a Band D household an extra £29.11 a week and taking the total bill from around £1,519 to more than £3,000. Labour blames the government, but this is a Labour council, a Labour Mayor, three Labour MPs and a Labour government. There is no one left to blame but themselves. Less than a year ago, council leader Stephen Cowan promised no extraordinary tax rises during the cost of living crisis. Council tax is an unfair tax that hits pensioners, young families and those on modest incomes hardest. This rise is wrong, and together we can stop it.
Axe the Hike
I call on Hammersmith & Fulham's Labour council to keep its promise, scrap plans to double council tax, and axe the hike.
