Our Priorities for Fulham Town are:
Housing
1. Build more homes — and build them faster
For years, Labour-run H&F Council has talked a big game on housing while persistently missing its housebuilding targets. Meanwhile, families are stuck on waiting lists and huge sums are spent on temporary accommodation instead of permanent homes.
The Liberal Democrats will:
• Exceed housing targets by at least 20% every year
• Streamline planning in appropriate high-density areas
• Shift spending away from costly temporary housing into affordable, council-owned homes
2. Council housing: End the mould and misery scandal
Residents have been left living with damp, leaks and unsafe conditions for years, with the council repeatedly criticised for serious failures and maladministration. That simply isn’t good enough.
The Liberal Democrats will:
• Launch a borough-wide audit of housing conditions
• Introduce strict repair deadlines — with emergency fixes within 24 hours and compensation where the council has failed
Crime
1. Policing you can actually see and reach
Labour has cut visibility, closed counters, and left residents unsure where to turn when they need help, while the council’s Law Enforcement Team (LET) often operates in isolation, causing confusion, delays, and ineffective responses.
The Liberal Democrats will:
• Keep the 24/7 counter open at Hammersmith Police Station
• Open additional neighbourhood policing hubs across the borough
• Bring operational control of the LET under the Met Police’s borough commander, ensuring better coordination, faster responses, and officers visible where they’re needed
2. Antisocial behaviour: Stop problems before they start
Anti-social behaviour blights lives in Hammersmith & Fulham, yet Labour’s approach focuses on enforcement after the fact, not prevention.
The Liberal Democrats will:
• Increase funding for youth centres & community groups, giving young people safe spaces, support, and alternatives to crime
• Invest in Turning Point programmes to support young people struggling with drug and alcohol issues, tackling the root causes of anti-social behaviour and helping keep our streets safer
Transport
1. Re-open Hammersmith Bridge — safely and sensibly
For years, Hammersmith Bridge has been closed, causing chaos for drivers, cyclists, and local businesses, while both Labour and the Tories have failed to deliver a clear plan.
The Liberal Democrats will:
• Restore & reopen the bridge in partnership with TfL
• Fund costs with a fair toll levied on bridge users
2. Clean air, clear streets, and fair parking
Labour’s approach to Low Traffic Neighbourhoods (LTNs) and parking has left residents frustrated — LTNs were introduced with little consultation, while parking feels expensive, confusing, and like a cash grab.
The Liberal Democrats will:
• Support & expand clean-air initiatives subject to resident consent
• Introduce a revamped borough wide parking permit, including discounts for those living more than 1km from a Tube station
3. Safe, convenient cycling for everyone
Cycling is healthy and environmentally friendly — but dockless bikes clutter pavements and unsafe routes deter riders.
The Liberal Democrats will:
• Create parking spaces for dockless bikes on every street
• Build protected, cross-borough cycle lanes running east-west and north-south
