Working Together for Safer Streets

Liberal Democrats on the District and Town councils are serious about tackling crime in the town centre. “Crime and antisocial behaviour have become a problem in Barnstaple” said Lib Dem spokesperson Syed Jusef. “Government cuts to police, mental health and youth services have meant that bad behaviour is more likely to happen”.

To help tackle this, Lib Dem run North Devon has put together a team from the police, social services, the Home Office, Barnstaple Town Council and local schools to tackle anti social behaviour in the town centre.

“Everyone should feel safe walking round town during the day or at night” said Syed. “We’ve shown that by bringing together everyone to work together, we can make Barnstaple a much safer place to be”
