Natural England must take action to restore Cam Washes

Paul Bearpark

Cam Washes is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), a few miles north of Waterbeach. It’s the only SSSI in the Milton & Waterbeach ward. It is crucial for wintering and breeding wildfowl and waders but their numbers have declined due to poor site management causing parts to dry out. Natural England is responsible for ensuring the site is maintained. Although it acknowledges the need for remediation it has failed to take action. Despite efforts by Paul Bearpark and residents over the past 18 months no progress has been made.
