GCP board votes against progressing congestion charging proposals
At the GCP Board meeting on Thursday 28th September, board members voted not to proceed with the congestion charging proposals.
Ian Sollom said “I am pleased to see that the board reps on the GCP decided not to go forward with the plans. Since I was selected as the candidate for the new seat of St Neots and Mid Cambs I have been calling for the proposals to be scrapped. It has been clear for some time that they did not have the support of the public. So many people are worrying about the cost of living crisis or worried about getting access to healthcare. It is these things that we should be focussing on at the moment as they are struggling in a cost of living crisis and with accessing GPs and other healthcare services. I urge the GCP to move forward quickly with considering other funding options such as a workplace parking levy.”
