Pippa takes the floor at COP26
Pippa is doing more than attending COP 26 – she’s already having an influence.
In this video, hear her take the floor during the UK Presidency plenary session, speaking to Alok Sharma MP, COP26 President, and the delegates from 197 countries – in her national role on the LGA and on behalf of the global constituency of local governments and municipal authorities.

“The current text of the (Glasgow) Preamble creates a silent and invisible constituency” she says about the exclusion of local government cooperation. “The Paris agreememt recognised multilevel collaboration, Glasgow should now ensure that multilevel ACTION is delivered.”
This has all been possible because of collaboration with ICLEI, global city initiative, and the LGMA since Pippa arrived at COP last week. They asked her to speak in the plenary session as soon as it became apparent that the UK Presidency had left a gaping hole in their draft text presented this morning.
Pippa’s years of climate policy experience have helped her to know when, where and with whom to work to achieve this agreed goal set by local government in the UK and across the world: that the final Glasgow COP26 Agreement recognises local councils’ role in delivering net zero.
