Linton ‘Make Lunch Club’ helps struggling families
Fruit and Veg Bingo is a firm favourite and lots of fun at the weekly Make Lunch Club in Linton, attended by 30-40 people every week during school holidays.
Also fun are the outdoor games organised by former PE teachers and, as it happens, the recycling of church candles with Revd Michael Wilcockson.
Many thanks to Sarah Thorne for the kind invitation to come, meet the volunteers (pictured with Patricia and Margaret) and see what they do. Sarah is Co-Ordinator of the Make Lunch Club, a partnership between TLG Lunch Makers and St Mary’s Parish Church, Linton.
Half of the funding for the Club comes from Cambridgeshire County Council Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) Programme. I talked with Sarah about the insecure funding situation facing the Club because the national HAF funding finishes in December this year. I will discuss this further with Councillors at the County Council and help lobby for a continuation of the funding which provides such a vital service to struggling families.
