Best for Britain backs Pippa and the Lib Dems in South Cambs
Tactical voting website Best for Britain has today endorsed Pippa Heylings as the candidate best placed to beat the Conservatives in South Cambs. (See Best for Britain's recommendation for South Cambridgeshire at getvoting.org)
The news follows many polls over recent weeks which have shown the Lib Dems set to win, with the Conservatives in second place. Polls show Labour out of the race in third.
In backing Pippa, the website states “The South Cambridgeshire constituency includes small towns and villages south of Cambridge and a small part of the city. In 2019, it was a close race between the Conservatives and Liberal Democrats. With boundary changes, it’s now the third Lib Dem target nationally. The Lib Dems are strong locally and lead in recent polls. Labour is not targeting this seat, and an above-average number of voters are prepared to vote tactically against the Tories here.”
The Liberal Democrats are picking up momentum in the campaign, with Pippa Heylings campaigning for action on the cost of living crisis, to save our local NHS and to end the sewage scandal.
At this election, the Liberal Democrats are looking to win seats across the so-called ‘Blue Wall”, as lifelong Conservative voters desert Rishi Sunak's party in their droves as the campaign continues.
Pippa Heylings said “More and more people on the doorsteps are telling us they know the Lib Dems are the party than can beat the Conservatives here in South Cambs. I am so grateful to the life-long Labour and Green voters who are lending me their support this time to get the change we need, from getting our NHS back on its feet to tackling the river pollution crisis.
Last time, the Lib Dems narrowly lost out to the Conservatives again by less than 3000 votes. We can’t let that happen again – we have to seize this once in a generation opportunity for change in South Cambridgeshire.”
