Location: Home-based

Salary: In line with IPSA grading (£34452-£52701)

Length of Contract: Full time from January 2025 reducing to 11 hours a week from April 2025

Ian Sollom MP is looking for a Senior Researcher to help in his team.
 

Key Tasks

  • Analyse, evaluate and interpret data to ensure the Member is accurately informed on key issues
  • Establish and develop appropriate strategies around research development
  • Horizon-scanning, anticipate what advice or action may be required; proactively identify problems and resolve them
  • Lead on project work as required
  • Progress casework as required
  • Research and monitor local, regional and national media coverage online and through social media and brief the MP on relevant issues
  • Research local, regional or national issues to support the MPs' work
  • Take ownership of certain casework as required
  • There may be a requirement for the role holder to work outside of normal working hours and travel for work occasionally.

Essential skills and experience: 

  • Excellent standard of written and spoken English
  • A highly organised approach
  • A self-starter who understands the importance of working collaboratively with colleagues
  • Sympathy with the aims and values of the Liberal Democrats

Upon appointment you will be required to apply for security clearance, undertaken by the Security Vetting and Pass Office. See Members’ Staff Security Clearance page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.
