Protect Bar Hill Post Office

Cllr Edna Murphy and Ian Sollom urge the County Council to take all possible steps to ensure that there continues to be a Post Office in Bar Hill.

Bar Hill post office has been operating in the library since 2013,  but its tenant since 2017 hasn’t been prepared to accept the tenancy terms and the council hasn’t been able to collect rent or contributions for running costs.

Following lengthy discussions with the postmaster to regularise this position, the County Council has been left with no alternative, and on Monday 25th Sept served a ‘notice to quit’.

The County Council welcomes a post office on this site and want it to continue. It has told the Post Office Ltd, the national organisation, it will support them in finding alternative solutions to ensure Bar Hill residents still have local access to post office services if this becomes necessary  - but is still focussed on negotiating a continued presence in the library.

For many years the Post Office has been situated in the Library, which has worked well for residents and also the Library. Hundreds of people use the Post Office every week for vital services. While it is up to the Post office to organise its businesses, we urge the County to do everything it can to ensure this vital community service continues.

We will continue campaigning to ensure Bar Hill keeps vital postal services.

Save Bar Hill Post Office

We are calling on the County Council to take all possible steps to ensure that there continues to be a Post Office in Bar Hill.
