James Sandbach

Charities manager, lawyer, and experienced campaigner James has spent a lifetime working for social justice. A Suffolk resident since 2012, James is a committed environmentalist, a pro - European, and supports an inclusive Ipswich in which all in the community can thrive. He has been involved in the work of a number of local and national charities and has a particular interest in human rights and access to justice. James has stood previously in elections in Suffolk including for the North Ipswich constituency in 2019, and recently as Police and Crime Commissioner for Suffolk. He holds a doctorate in conflict resolution. He has been in the Liberal Democrats since the 1980s due to the Party's commitment to human rights, community politics, internationalism, justice and the rule of law - he is a non-practicing barrister and throughout his career has been an advocate for those in our society who are excluded by poverty, disadvantage, discrimination or injustice, and believes that we all unique individuals who share a common humanity that must be cherished. He lives with his wife who is a GP in Suffolk.
