Lib Dems get Timperley Brook Cleared & Inspected after New Year's Flooding

Cllr. Julian Newgrosh tells how the Lib Dems stepped up where the council has failed the residents of Timperley.

Following the New Year's Day flooding around Timperley, when Timperley Brook and Fairywell Brook burst their banks, I took it upon myself to walk/inspect as much of Timperley Brook as I could get access to.

As a direct result of the walking inspection, I found a large fallen tree that was far too big for local volunteers to clear. This was immediately reported to the Environment Agency (who are responsible for the maintenance and inspection of UK waterways)

Earlier today, I met the Environment Agency staff clearing the blockage I had reported. Additionally, I made sure that they had walked/inspected the rest of Timperley Brook (especially the most inaccessible sections) for additional blockages.

Your local LibDem Councillor team will continue to demand that the EA do regular walking checks of both local Brooks. It's this regular maintenance, that the EA are responsible for, that can make all the difference.

If you see a blockage to any local waterway/brook while out walking, please take a photo and message the EA team with an accurate location. The correct email for this is : ics@environment-agency.gov.uk . Feel free to copy in your local Cllrs so that we can keep an eye on the EA response to these issues.
