Julian Huppert MP on European arrest warrant

Dr Julian Huppert MP for Cambridge is calling on everyone to send a clear message to parliament that they should reject Tory attempts to opt out of the European arrest warrant. Writing to supporters he says

"Could we lose vital criminal justice powers next week? On Monday MPs will vote on whether to continue to work with Europe to keep us safe, or opt out of measures such as Europol and the European Arrest Warrant completely."

"The European Arrest Warrant allows us to easily deport suspected criminals accused of crimes like rape, murder and robbery. Without it, it would be all too easy for fugitives fleeing justice to hide out in the UK."

"Right-wing Tories are planning to vote no on Monday to make a statement on the EU. They're so obsessed about Europe that they would jeopardise our safety and make it much harder for the police to solve crimes."

"I think they're wrong to vote to opt out on Monday. Join me in saying we should stay opted in:"
